How To Remove Black Marker From Your Carpet

Carpet Cleaning Castle Rock Co

We have all seen our fair share of spots and stains on our carpets. Some are easy to remove and some are much more difficult. If you have kids who have used a black marker  and you see they have gotten it on your carpets, you are now dealing with dye and cleaning up the stain can be a problem if not done correctly as it can spread if not cleaned properly.  It is possible to remove a black marker out of carpet fibers, but taking the proper clean-up approach is absolutely imperative in getting it all out opposed to seeing it get worse by spreading it or smearing it.

 Here are some useful tips:

#1)  Remove excess marker by first vacuuming it up once it dries. if it is still et then use a white towel. Take the towel and gentle press down from the outside in absorbing what you can. if necessary use another white towel and repeat the process. Never try scrubbing the stain as this can cause the stain to spread and too much agitation can fray the carpets fibers causing irreversable damage.

#2)  Use a non-toxic carpet cleaning solvent or a citrus based carpet cleaning chemical,.If you have neither you can call TLC Carpet care in Castle Rock and order the product. It can be delivered via UPS or you can come to our shop for purchase and pick-up. If you are using a solvent open up your windows to air out the room, as you don't want to be breathing solvent fumes. Apply to the edge of the stain, starting from the outside in. Only use a small amount to start out with. Remember its imperative that you don't cause the stain to spread.  Blot gently with another white towels. Repeat the process until you see the stain slowly go away.  You may need to do this a few times to get what may have saturated in the backing of the carpets or whats there could wick back to the surface of the carpet. Spread the fibers apart and gentle press down to get what's in the backing.

If your having difficulty removing the stain or are simply uncomfortable trying the process, then give TLC Carpet Care in Castle Rock a call and we will schedule a service appointment to remove the stain for you.
