Is My Carpet A Default, What is Carpet Shedding?

Carpet Cleaning in Castle Rock Co

So you purchased new carpets this year. However every time you vacuum your starting to see lint like fabrics coming from the carpets. This can be a disturbing and concerning thing. You may even wonder is this a manufactures default. The answer is no. You can relax and breath for a moment. You carpets are fine. What you are seeing is what our industry calls carpet shedding, Shedding is used to describe the release of loose fibers from the carpet. This often happens to new carpets when they are first vacuumed. According to carpet manufactures carpet shedding is defined as: loose fragments of the yarn left during manufacture. Again this is not a defect, but a natural process when a carpet may have to many fibers.

Every carpet manufacture makes carpets in a different way. Depending on what type of fiber wether there synthetic, polyester or nylon. That will determine the way the fibers are bound to the latex of the backing of the carpets. Not all carpets shed. Polyester being a low pile carpets maybe less likely that a nylon shag carpet.  After the carpet has been constructed it is possible that there is some loose fibers that may not have been secured to the backing. This is normal and after some use and vacuuming it is expected that the shedding should reduce to the point it is no longer noticeable.

This maybe may not even be noticeable until you get your carpets cleaned. As cleaning the carpet can expedite this process.
