If your jute or sisal rug has a sots and stains, don't use dish-soap as the ph will cause browning. Instead, place the rug flat on an even surface and apply a dry cleaning solvent or plain baking soda and let absorb for a few hours. Then vacuum it up.

Hang rug up as the wind and air will help it dry, but don't do this on a humid day. If taking it outside, make sure it is a sunny day, as the UV rays work as a oxidizer and will help brighten the colors. 

 Keep in mind that vacuuming on a regular basis and prevention is key. Also make sure you vacuum in the same direction of the rug fibers will keep it looking like new.
