So lets talk a little about soil Infiltration in your carpets.
What are soil infiltration Lines? Soil Infiltration lines sometimes known as foy marks, pollution stains or air filtration line are caused by smog, dust, carbon monoxide, and other airborne pollutants that pass through the carpet pile. As the pollutants pass through the carpet, the carpets act as a filter to remove fine particles of airborne soil. The condition manifest itself as a charcoal gray or black lines affecting the entire carpet fiber as well as the backing material. The increased levels of air pollution in large cities and industrial areas are making filtration soiling a common occurrence. The problem is exacerbated by the increased popularity of light beige and off white carpets. The lighter the color of the fiber the more it will stand out and become a nightmare eye sore. The condition is much more likely to be present where fireplaces, wood burning stoves and particularly kerosene heaters have been used extensively. Heavy smokers in the home or building can also contribute greatly.
These types of stains, where do they appear will be talking about that in the next article. Be sure to check out soil Infiltration Part 2
