Pet urine deposits are biologically created by water, enzymes, urea, uric acid, cholesterol and other chemicals – with a yellow pigment when it turns to alkaline. When pets pee, the liquid that comes out is an acid, but after 24 hours this acid begins turns into an alkaline due to bacteria and ph levels. The salt produced from the alkaline mixes with the yellow pigment and causes the yellow coloring or stains that can be seen on the surface of the carpets and also in the backing of your carpets with a black light.
